Jan 3rd 2014 - The weekend looms large!

I am a woman and I am strong, I am a woman and I am strong!!!  The weekend is here!  Ooer!  The first test comes in the shape of being home alone tonight.... Anyway doing fine. Cup of tea, piece of christmas cake, and the just your average horny little devil on the TV - The Witches of Eastwick

Today's been a good day.  At work weekdays are going to be the easy part of this challenge.  I'm drinking plenty of water, and eating lots of fruit... I've just realised I've been eating grapes, perhaps as a substitute for wine - is that cheating???

No plans as yet for the weekend, apart from possibly cooking dinner on Sunday for the in laws & mother. I can be in control of the environment safely here...

Jan 2nd 2014 - Back in the grind

All Cancers Doughnut

Well, you'll all be pleased to see that I survived Day 1 and more importantly, so did my 'dear' husband!  It was quite easy really, as it was back to work today, so no drink on a 'school' night.

I did get my first sponsor last night, which was a real boost.  A big THANKS to Lucy Colbourne :-)

I had an early night and woke refreshed and ready to take on the day albeit at 5:00. So armed with my sponsor form & flashing my wristband in peoples faces, I have started gently 'touting' for sponsorship. Everyone is really willing to give especially for such a good cause.

Why did I choose to do this?  If I can help raise a small amount of money to help There are so many people suffering from cancer. I think each one of us is touched in some way, either directly or indirectly by this scourge of a disease.

Anyway, there's not much to report today really, but the weekend is nearly upon us! That's when the fun is really going to start........

Jan 1st 2014 - Day 1

Dryathlon logo
PLEASE!!

So I get this ridiculous idea that it would be great to give up alcohol for the month of January for charity, Cancer Research UK actually..... Think I must have had a bang on the head, but nonetheless, I have committed to it now and bloody well broadcast the fact too. Stupid girl!

Then I thought it might be amusing to share my ramblings and rantings, highs & lows, frustrations and ultimately euphoria when I complete it.

Why oh why did I decide to do this?

It wasn't really a bang on the head, it was a TV advert, and before I knew it I'd registered and my pack arrived. That was quite exciting as it contained goodies! There's a wristband that I am wearing with pride, a donation card to flash at anyone offering me a drink.  I've always wanted to say 'No thanks, I'd rather have the money!'.  Posters and beer mats that say 'No Beer Here' on one side and 'Take on Dryathlon. One Month. No Alcohol. No Drips.' I think I'm going to have to take one of these out with me to remind me what I'm doing! There's the all important sponsor form, but for me the most vital thing for me is a calendar to count off the 31 long days!!

MAKE MINE A LARGE WWWW WATER!

I've also set up a team under the name 'Make mine a large wwww water', but there has only been one other fool hero, taken up the challenge and that's my boy Olly. Good on ya son!

Anyway, each day I plan to let you know how it's going.  Good, bad or indifferent.

Day 1- Weds: I started the day off by emptying the third of a bottle of champagne left over from last night and the remains of the red wine from boxing day down the toilet!!!  Now THAT was painful, I can tell you!!! In fact this has actually been a shit day to give up drinking, because my dear husband has sat and watched back to back football since lunchtime.  Under normal circumstances I would have had a couple of drinkie poos to stop me from stabbing him, but I'm afraid I cannot be held responsible for my actions!

At least tomorrow should be ok as it's back to work.. Booooo...  But if you'd like to drop by again tomorrow and I'll tell how today panned out and how Day 2 is shaping up

Thanks for your support
